Reverts Education Program
New Muslims learn to read, to pray, and to keep taharah, then continue into Qur’an, Tawheed, Seerah, and basic Islamic studies.
This program began when many people embraced Islam and were referred to Masjid Khadija, Majengo, and later to Ummu Bilal, who first taught new Muslims from her home.
The first lessons were practical and close:
- Qaida, so a person can begin to read
- How to pray
- Cleanliness and personal hygiene, taharah
As the number of reverts grew, the class moved from a home to the mosque. It is now a large madrasa with five volunteer teachers. The subjects have widened with it: Qur’an, in recitation and writing, Tawheed, Seerah, and basic Islamic studies.
The story of this class is the story of the organisation. A small effort, offered steadily, became a place where people could learn without being rushed or left alone.
