Why We Started Ladies Darsa
Students in a Majengo hifz class were late, and some were leaving. The cause was at home. The darsa was opened so the home could be spoken about.
From the activity report, October 2024 – August 2026

Inside a Qur’an memorisation programme in Majengo, the same story kept repeating. A student arrived late. A student stopped coming. It looked like a problem of the class. It was a problem of the house.
Parents were not always behind the child. Some homes were living with substance abuse. Some were simply unsteady. A girl can love the Qur’an and still be unable to get to it.
Ladies Darsa was started so those subjects had a room: how to motivate a child, mental health, marriage, drugs. The sessions were for the community, not only for the students already in the hifz class.
What followed was measurable in the way a teacher measures things. Students came on time. Memorisation improved. The affection for the Qur’an was no longer fighting the week alone.
